The spinning word cursor
The spinning word cursor is an alternative to Apple's Mac OS X spinning wait cursor that indicates an application is not responding to system events.
Designed for a feature in Icon Magazine about re-inventing familiar objects, the spinning word cursor is a response to the frustration every designer has when faced with the multi-coloured spinning wait cursor also known as the 'marble of doom' or 'spinning wheel of death'. In the manner of the exquisite corpse, a technique invented by the Surrealists, the spinning word cursor operates by word associations intended to distract you from your work and ultimately, to inspire you.
Designed at Mind Design, September 2011.
